The Workout: Teaching Artists is a cohort-based series of workshops for active musicians in the Northern Colorado scene looking to utilize their artistic skills in new ways.

Through concentrated coaching from Music District staff and experienced teaching artists, participants will develop facilitation techniques, practical knowledge, and community connections necessary to make teaching a viable source of income.

  • Teaching artists are active musicians who teach to help fuel their creative endeavors, using their talents to inspire others while staying focused on their own artistic pursuits. Whether teaching private lessons, developing workshops, or leading community programs, The Workout empowers musicians to think outside the box, build new relationships, and sustain their music careers. 

  • The Workout: Teaching Artists is for individuals that:  

    • Are 18 years of age or older 

    • Are actively engaged in the Northern Colorado music scene  

    • Are interested in teaching or facility educational programming 

    • Are looking to grow their artist career while earning supplemental income & contributing to their community 

    • Are willing to speak/present in front of the program cohort and new groups of people

  • The cohort will meet once a week for 7 weeks. Participants can expect to:

    • Be coached on leadership and facilitation skills

    • Explore examples of teaching artist career paths

    • Gather a curated collection of music education materials & resources

    • Connect with nationally-recognized and regionally active teaching artists

    • Share learning experiences with a cohort of like-minded musicians

    • Make connections with regional organizations who hire teaching artists & present music programming

      To wrap the program, each cohort member will create an educational session designed for real-world use.

  • The Workout: Teaching Artists will take place over 7 weeks from April-June 2025. Each week will include one session on the following dates:  

    • Wednesday, April 30, 4-6 pm 

    • Wednesday, May 7, 4-6 pm

    • Wednesday, May 14, 4-6 pm 

    • Wednesday, May 21, 4-6 pm 

    • Wednesday, May 28, 4-6 pm

    • Wednesday, June 4, 4-6 pm

    • Wednesday, June 11, 4-6 pm

  • The Music District (639 S College Avenue, Fort Collins, CO, 80524)  

    Most meetings will be held in Little Brother (621 S College Avenue, Fort Collins, CO, 80524) 

  • A Music District Membership will be required for all participants of The Workout: Teaching Artists.

    Important note: If selected, participants will be onboarded as Members during mid-late April 2025. The Music District team will reach out to schedule your one-hour onboarding session between these dates.

    Participants of The Workout: Teaching Artists must be Music District members for the duration of the program. The cost of Membership for May-June is $60 (total).

    Membership includes access to all the Music District has to offer such as rehearsal rooms, production space, programs, industry 1-on-1s, pro gear and equipment, and much more.

The Music District’s signature artist development program, The Workout is offered several times throughout the year and focuses on different industry-relevant topics with the aim of equipping musicians with tools to thrive in today’s music industry.
